The current Civic Type R was new for 2023 with more power, a retuned six-speed manual and suspension, stiffer body, redesigned exterior, and updated cabin. For 2024, the CTR returns unchanged. Our enthusiasm for Honda's performance compact hatchback grows with the current generation. Although its improvements don't show up in objective test data, this Civic Type R is more focused and track ready than the previous one. Body control is uncanny, and in testing the CTR can out-brake more expensive sports cars. We still think it's the best handling front-wheel-drive money can buy. I'm extremely pleased with my 2025 Civic Type R. Before the Type R I had a 2019 Golf R which I really liked, but the driving characteristics of the Type R are in another league. I do miss the all wheel drive for winter driving, but all in all I am quite happy I made the switch. - 5.0
